Horses have played an important part in human history, perhaps the most important part of all animals. They have been our partners in war, in agriculture and often as our most trusted friend. To this day we still consider our horse a partner, though most of us do not have a practical task to complete as partners. Today we spend time with horses because it is fun and because we feel good in their company.

To compensate for the lack of experience in "reading" horses, we must strive to educate us, so that we can become the most attentive companion, we can be for our horse.

It is not necessary to know all the theory to begin improving our skills. We must however know the most basic aspects of horsmanship, bodyawareness, anatomy, horse care in general and of lots of other things. While simultaneously putting the aquired theory into practical use.

The one who is a brilliant user of the aids and thereby can communicate with the horse, is a good craftsman of the academic art of riding. He/She will be able to adapt the educational system to every situation, because he/she knows that every day is to be looked at with fresh eyes and an open mind.

"A balanced body permits a balanced state of mind."
